Coleman Porcelain · Unglazed

These charming Tulip Mugs begin their journey on the potter's wheel, where each piece is carefully thrown using Coleman Porcelain, a clay known for its strength and beautiful finish. The potter intentionally shapes each mug with slightly thicker walls during the throwing process, creating the perfect foundation for the detailed carving work that will transform these simple forms into delicate tulip-inspired vessels. Currently in the trimming stage, each mug measures 3.5cm in diameter and stands 4.25cm tall in its wet state. As the Coleman Porcelain dries and eventually fires, it will shrink by 14%, resulting in perfectly proportioned miniature mugs ideal for espresso or tea ceremonies. The real magic will happen during the carving phase, where the potter's skilled hands will sculpt tulip petals and organic details into the clay walls. This set of four mugs represents the beautiful patience required in ceramic arts – each stage building upon the last to create functional art that celebrates both the natural world and the timeless craft of pottery. The finished pieces will showcase the pristine white beauty of the porcelain, with carved details that catch light and shadow to bring the tulip motif to life.

B-Mix 5 · Unglazed

This elegant Tall Bud Vase begins its journey on the potter's wheel, where skilled hands shape B-Mix 5 clay into a graceful form that will eventually shrink by 12.5% during the firing process. The piece is carefully thrown to achieve the classic proportions of a narrow neck rising from a stable, wider base—a timeless silhouette that perfectly cradles a single stem or small bouquet. At 3 centimeters in diameter and 9 centimeters tall in its current wet state, this intimate vessel showcases the potter's attention to both form and function. The throwing stage has been thoughtfully documented through seven progress photographs, capturing the transformation from raw clay to refined vessel. With inspiration drawn from ocean-blue tones, this piece awaits its glazing stage, where it will receive the finishing touches that will bring the maker's coastal vision to life.

Large Serving Bowl

Large Serving Bowl

B-Mix 5 · Celadon + Tenmoku

This beautiful large serving bowl began its journey on the potter's wheel, shaped from B-Mix 5 clay into generous proportions that will gracefully hold your favorite dishes for sharing. The careful attention to form during the wet stage created a vessel measuring 14cm across and 5.5cm in height, designed with both function and elegance in mind. The glazing process reveals the artisan's thoughtful approach to color and depth. The bowl was first dipped in a classic celadon glaze, that serene blue-green that has captivated ceramicists for centuries. After allowing this base layer to dry completely, the upper portion was carefully dipped in rich tenmoku glaze, creating a striking contrast where the dark, lustrous brown meets the tranquil celadon below. Once fired, this piece will showcase the beautiful interplay between these two traditional glazes, with the final dimensions settling to approximately 12cm diameter due to the natural shrinkage of the clay body. The result promises to be a stunning serving bowl that brings both artistry and functionality to your table.
